Twilight Language

Twilight Language by Shuster + Moseley is a series of site-specific light-mobile compositions featuring suspended hand-blown glass elements and LEDs. These compositions explore the resonance of light and shadow, drawing inspiration from alchemical-cosmological diagrams to create an intricate experiential language of spectral forms.

Site-specific light-mobile compositions spatialise the fundamental photographic process of light mediated by the lens, tuning each work to the resonance of light unique to a particular setting. The series draws on the experimental extensions of the photographic medium, from Moholy-Nagy's light-space investigations, to articulate the technological interfacing between consciousness and body: the framing of reality. The compositions also draw on the alchemical-cosmological diagrams of Renaissance philosophers such as Jacob Boehme and Robert Fludd. 'Twilight Language' names a language of forms of light, revealed at the spectral edge of light and shadow.
